The Amusings

1. Apparently daddy and grandma have been keeping the money that i gave them from my salary. And they have a common purpose---for my wedding. Maybe they are really contemplating to pay people to marry me! *chuckles*

2. PSC is also the distributor for chupa chups, so we get a lot of these free lolipops, the most recent one being the half the usual size one. It is pretty common to see people licking lolipops all around the office. And so yesterday 5 of my colleagues were trying out the new mini size loli, happily licking away and the external trainer who was with us went: " erm.. aren't you all professionals?"!haha! Didn't know professionals cannot eat lolipop!

On the other hand, i always gave mine to mum to bring to her kids. I bet she is getting more popular ever since i started working!

3. Every 1st of the month is fruits day and i like it! Yesterday was grape:)

4. There's this aunty who will come in every thursday with her handbag. ( She is not our staff) Then she will come right beside you, open her handbag and started pulling out weird looking stuffs.


She is the aunty who cleans the phones. The first time she came, stand beside me, said nothing and started opening her handbag, it really scares me. haha!
I mean, why can't she use a plastic transparent box, a pail or something, at least something that looks like it is for storing cleaning agents.
Next week, i must remember to check out the brand of her bag!

5. I've decided that i dun wanna be a hindu anymore! I had Jack's Place steak on tue! Its not exactly a big deal, well exccept that i don't use to eat beef. But people change don't they? I started eating a lot of stuff that i dun used to eat. Like..steak, mushrooms, prawns, gyoza ( which till now i still dun really like it!ha!), xiao jie lan (mind you! it's vege green!)....just to name a few.
And some other things, i am liking it lesser, like erm..pork (certain kinds), macdonalds.

6. My colleague went to the supermarket and a new brand of rice was on promotion and the promoter said: " this is definitely better than R!" R is our housebrand. Ha! Well, we can take comfort that we are probably the market leader for such a statement to be made.

The Road to Healing

For most part of my life that I have cognition, I live with the fear of death. Not my death but death of loved ones. It has been so long, I have more or less just resigned to living with it.  I had vague memory that even as a child, I would cry thinking about the death of my parents. I would go to their bedside and cry while they were sleeping. Now that I think about it, could it be some shows that I have watched because I do recall sobbing uncontrollably over the death of fictional characters in the drama. At the same time I was afraid of ghosts and spirits. I was healed as a youth during an encounter retreat. The facilitator asked me when did I start to be afraid of ghosts and spirits and I said it was attending my first Christian wake as a child when I viewed a dead body for the first time. The facilitator then led me in prayer and since that day, I am no longer afraid of such and was able to be alone in the night.  But still the fear of death of loved ones did not leave me...

To be or not to be feminist?

During Tuesday life group, a recently married young lady mentioned that she is somewhat of a feminist and struggles with the issue of submitting to her husband.  The issue is a complicated one. Firstly, the discourse on feminism is dynamic and many a time laced with emotions. Secondly, the idea of biblical submission is probably not studied or misunderstood. Lastly, one may not really be a feminist or had a submission issue, the root lies somewhere else.  Interestingly, I had on a few occasions been described as a submissive wife although I do not want to probe on the definitions by the people who paid me the compliment/criticism. What they do not know is if they had met the undergraduate me, they would probably think otherwise. The excitement of undergraduate life, the newfound independence and arts education had thrown me into a period of questioning, tears and anger.
